Scheduling Efficiency – Key to Profitability for Home Health Care Agencies
Efficient and optimal use of employees will directly impact improving the bottom line for home care agencies. Home Care Agencies should leverage technology to do more with less to meet the demand for home-based services and continue to grow.
This blog will discuss how easy-to-use and advanced home care scheduling software and tools will help agencies improve employee productivity and bottom line.
Home Care Agencies can spend $500 - $1000 per employee each year on training. An elevated, industry-wide turnover rate can make training a regular cost, which is difficult for any home care agency to keep up with. Reducing time spent training employees can significantly reduce costs of onboarding, and can improve productivity across the board.
Staffing and reimbursement challenges will force home healthcare agencies to do more with less while striving to provide quality care to patients. Home Health Care agencies should develop a process enabling clinicians to develop effective, integrated, personalized patient care plans. Effective care planning processes will help home healthcare agencies leverage technology and software platforms to improve the quality of care provided to patients at their homes.

CMS Can Do More To Leverage Medicare Claims Data To Identify Unreported Incidents of Potential Abuse or Neglect
We identified 30,258 Medicare claims for services provided from January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2020, that contained diagnosis codes indicating the treatment of injuries potentially caused by abuse or neglect of Medicare enrollees. Of the 100 Medicare claims we sampled, 93 had medical records that contained evidence of potential abuse or neglect. We also determined that of these 93 claims, 14 were allegedly perpetrated by health care workers, 17 were related to incidents that occurred in medical facilities, and 18 were related to incidents that were not reported to law enforcement.
